Food Laws and Regulations in Mexico

Duration: 60 Minutes
There are several regulations to accomplish in order to export and market food products in Mexico. Those regulations are being amended to secure healthier foods for the Mexican population. Labeling as well as import/export regulations are key elements to successfully market food products in Mexico. The best method to avoid trade impediments at the border before exporting products to Mexico is to locate an experienced Mexican customs broker. These brokers are authorized by the Mexican Internal Tax Registry to handle customs clearance operations. The Mexican government publishes technical regulations) or standards often referred as NOM, in the Diario Oficial de la FederaciĆ³n (Official Gazette) - the Mexican equivalent of the U.S. Federal Register.
