Leading Indicators & Trends to Predict Health Injuries and Environmental Incidents
Leading indicators have been used for years to predict the future. Weather professionals to predict the weather use barometric pressure. Polls are used to inform politicians if they should change their strategy and elevated body temperature or blood pressure are leading indicators concerning an individual's health. Therefore, the use of leading indicators such as near misses, unsafe acts and unsafe conditions to protect future safety performance, exposure levels and the threat of an environmental release are logical next steps in successfully improving safety, health and environmental measurement; and performance.

Laboratory Safety: Efficient Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Management
Typically laboratories consider themselves too small to need the basic EHS management tools that will make them more effective and more competitive. Tools such as the creation of EHS policies, standards, guidelines, procedures, practices and programs, if they exist are generally a pile of paper found in a book and provide no overarching direction. Day to day EHS management techniques, if they exist, will go a long way to provide confidence that the EHS function is being managed appropriately. This webinar will discuss the above and much more.

Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act
This webinar addresses the recently updated 1976 Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Its new name is chemical safety in the 21st Century. The updated act is titled, "Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act." The act was named in honor of Senator Lautenberg because he was an ardent proponent of modifications to TSCA during his lifetime. The act amends and "Modernizes" the original act. Reforming TSCA provides broad protection of human health and the environment, it improves availability of information about chemicals, and it clarifies that nothing in the bill is intended to affect common law rights and remedies.

The Use of Leading Indicators to Project Future Safety Performance
The Heinrich Safety Pyramid identifies a relationship among severity of injuries. The greater the severity, the lower the number of injuries expected. The near the bottom of the pyramid are the first aid injuries. There is a level of the pyramid below first aids. It is the base of the pyramid and it contains "Leading indicators." These include, among others, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and near misses. While this is the richest area of safety information, it is generally not used to its full value. Through this webinar you will learn how to use data from the base of the pyramid to project future injuries.
